Mission Statement:

SIGHT CONSERVATION FOR
CHILDREN
To provide eye examinations
and eye glasses to school age children who are in need of eye glasses and
cannot afford them. It is typical that routine visual acuity tests,
administered by the School Nurse Program, are the first to find children with
degraded eye sight, The parents are then notified, however, many cannot afford
a complete eye examination and eye glasses for their children. These cases
will be referred to the Foundation by the school nurses.

 |
SIGHT CONSERVATION FOR
ADULTS
To provide eye
examinations, eye glasses and other required eye care to those beyond school
age. The purpose of this activity is to provide eye care to adults who need
this service such as to qualify for a job, obtain a drivers license or as care
for an eye disease or related sight condition. |
 |
COMMUNITY EYE SCREENING
This activity of the
Foundation provides free eye screening to the general public. The screening
includes tests for glaucoma, close, distant, and night vision, and blood sugar
tests. Following each test, the person is advised of any eye problems revealed
by the tests. All testing is performed by eye care professionals using the
latest technology brought to the testing site. The testing sites are typically
shopping malls or public meeting facilities. The purpose of these tests is to
provide free vision screening to the public in an effort to make early
detection of vision threatening eye diseases. |
